TAI's 47th Anniversary... Half a century of service

Turkish Aerospace celebrated its 47th anniversary with great excitement. Having served its country for nearly half a century and earned itself a reputation as one of the best players in the avtiation industry with the indigenous products it has launched in recent years, the company is a great family whose history encompasses many achievements, stories, excitement, joy and pride.

Turkish Aircraft Industry Corporation was founded

09.12.1983

A Letter of Acceptance for 160 F-16s was signed between the Republic of Turkey and the United States of America.

15.05.1984

Turkish Aerospace Industries was founded

11.03.1988

The first F-16 was delivered

24.09.1992

The first CN-235 aircraft was delivered to the Turkish Air Forces.

30.09.1998

Production operations started for Cougar helicopter.

13.11.2001

The first CN-235 Maritime Patrol Aircraft was delivered to the Turkish Coast Guard Command.

05.06.2003

19 Cougar helicopters, with a finished modification program, were delivered to the Turkish Land Forces Command.

The Indigenous UAV System Pelican performed its first flight.

The purchase of Lockheed Martin and General Electric shares.

Turkish Aerospace Industries and Turkish Aircraft Industry Corporation were brought under one roof.

The contract for the Meltem III Project was signed.

The contract was signed for the Turkish Introductory and Basic Training Aircraft Development Program.

The first training aircraft was named “HÜRKUŞ”.

A singing ceremony was held for the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) Project.

Design operations started for the first satellite.

An opening ceremony was held for the Aircraft Satellite Assembly and Integration Facility.

A rollout ceremony was held for ANKA.

The Peace Eagle Program’s first flight was performed.

GÖKTÜRK-2 Satellite was launched into space from China.

The contract was signed for the T625 GÖKBEY Indigenous Helicopter Program.

HÜRKUŞ performed its first flight.

22.04.2014

T129A Early Delivery Helicopter was delivered to the Turkish Land Forces Command.

21.02.2014

The contract was signed for T70 General Utility Helicopter Program.

21.05.2015

The President of the Republic of Turkey opened the Space Systems Integration and Test Center.

05.08.2015

A groundbreaking ceremony was held for the T625 GÖKBEY Indigenous Helicopter Program Facilities.

05.08.2016

The contract was signed for the Turkish Fighter Phase 1 Stage 1 with the Presidency of Defence Industries.

05.12.2016

GÖKTÜRK-1 was launched from the Kourou Launch Base in French Guiana. The Launch was watched live at the GÖKTÜRK-1 Satellite Launch Ceremony held at Turkish Aerospace Facilities and Attended by the President of the Republic of Turkey.

07.04.2017

The first shooting demonstration was held for HÜRKUŞ-C demo operations.

12.07.2017

Waist delivery for the first Turkish JSF/F-35 Aircraft.

The first delivery of ANKA-S.

20.04.2018

A ceremony was held for the delivery of T129 ATAK Helicopter to the Gendarmerie General Command.

16.05.2018

The supply contract was signed with Pakistan for 30 T129 ATAK Helicopters.

T625 GÖKBEY helicopter performed its first flight.

The start of the Turkish Fighter project calendar.

ANKA performed its first test flight with a PD-170 Turkish engine.

The Project Development Contract was signed for the HEAVY ATTACK HELICOPTER.

AKSUNGUR performed its first flight.

25.06.2020

Turkish Aerospace delivered the 57th T129 ATAK helicopter to the Land Forces Command.

10.09.2020

AKSUNGUR remained in the air for 49 hours and carried the Turkish flag into the skies at 20,000 feet.
