Ukraine's Prime Minister: 'defense industry cooperation between Ukraine and Turkey has reached a new level'

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, arrived in Turkey today for a two-day business visit.

Receiving the Prime minister Denys Shmyhal in the airport, the Ukrainian Ambassador to Ankara Andrii Sybiha wrote on twitter that "Ukraine’s Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal’s business visit to Turkey has begun. The Ukrainian delegation arrived on board of the Ukrainian AN-148 aircraft. This is very important and symbolic. We also expect tangible projects in the field of aircraft production."

Shmyhal made important statements to DHA (Demirören News Agency) prior to the visit.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Shmyhal stated that the cooperation between the two countries in defense industry has reached a new level in recent years, and that this field/area is one of the basic elements of strategic cooperation.  

Stating that Ukraine’s and Turkey's defense industry complexes are complementary to each other, Shmyhal mentioned that joint project in the field of shipbuilding, unmanned systems, engine production and various large-scale projects are in the completion phase right now.

Pointing that there is a tremendous potential for Turkey and Ukraine to collaborate in high-tech-based fields Shmyhal said that "Ukraine wants to develop its business and economic relations. Our trade volume continues to increase, despite the coronavirus restrictions."
