The U.S. State Department has approved the sale of Apache military attack helicopters and related equipment for a total of about $3.5 billion to South Korea.
The Pentagon's Defense Security Cooperation Agency said in a statement that the State Department has approved the sale of 36 Apache AH-64E helicopters and their equipment to South Korea.
The statement said that Congress has received a memo regarding the approval of the sale. It’s also stated that "the helicopters will contribute to South Korea's efforts to increase its political stability and security in the Indo-Pacific region".
In another statement, the Pentagon's Defense Security Cooperation Agency explained that the U.S. State Department has also agreed to sell Javelin missiles to Australia, for the equivalent of about $100 million.
The same source detailed that "the sale of the missiles is aimed at improving the Australian Army's ability to deal with current and future threats".
