Belarus, Russia start joint military training

The Belarusian Defense Ministry said on Tuesday that a week-long joint military training with Russia has started on the country's territory.

"Today, the joint staff training of the Joint Command of the Regional Grouping of Troops (forces) begins in the Republic of Belarus. During the week, representatives of the military departments of the two states will work out issues of joint planning of the use of troops based on the experience of armed conflicts in recent years," the ministry said in a statement.

It added that the goals of the training are improving the compatibility of the military of the two states, and their preparation for the joint Union Shield 2023 exercises, which will take place in Russia in September.
