HENSOLDT to supply 6 more air defense radars to Ukraine

HENSOLDT is set to bolster Ukraine's air defense with an additional six of its TRML-4D radars, the defense and security electronics pioneer said in a press release recently.

Part of an order bundle valued at over 100 million euros ($108M), these six radars are slated for delivery later this year. This development marks HENSOLDT's contract tally to more than 50 air defense radars of this caliber.

“Our radars are urgently needed by the Ukrainian air defence and we are proud to be able to deliver all the systems this year. The feedback from our customers confirms how important the rapid availability of the radars is for the protection of their citizens,” HENSOLDT CEO Oliver Dörre was quoted as saying in the company statement.

The TRML-4D utilizes latest technology AESA radar. It guarantees swift detection and tracking of approximately 1,500 targets within a radius spanning up to 250 kilometers.

This radar is proficient in promptly and accurately detecting, tracking, and categorizing various aerial targets, including cruise missiles, drones, airplanes, and helicopters.

With decades of expertise in radar systems for air defense, HENSOLDT is actively advancing key technologies in this domain.

Alongside the high-performance TRML-4D radar, the company's lineup includes the SPEXER short-range radar, the Twinvis passive radar, and radars tailored for securing maritime and aerial traffic.

Both the TRML-4D and the SPEXER are integral components of the German Armed Forces' NNbS air defense system, tasked with close and short-range protection, which commenced operations in January.

Additionally, HENSOLDT supplies radars for the German Navy's frigates and corvettes, airspace surveillance, and approach control at Bundeswehr airfields.
