International Defense Industry Agenda April 29 – May 5 2024

• Swedish defense company Saab announced an increase in its first quarter operating profit compared to last year, following Sweden's entry into NATO.

• Belgium decided to invest 60 million euros to participate as an observer in the Future Combat Air System (FCAS), of which France, Germany and Spain are the main contractors.

• The first of the F-35 Lightning II fighter jets procured by Poland from the United States was displayed at the assembly plant in the U.S.

• China announced that its third aircraft carrier 'Fujian' has left the shipyard and started trial cruises.

• Finland-based defense company Patria announced that the Finnish Defence Forces are preparing to purchase Patria 6x6 armored vehicles as part of the Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) program.

• Raytheon and Spanish engineering company Sener signed a contract to produce the electro-mechanical control section of the Patriot missile.

• The UK Army will modernize its artillery with the German RCH 155 system mounted on the Boxer armored vehicle.

• The US State Department authorized the sale of the AGM-88G anti-radiation missile to Poland and the Netherlands.

• French company EOS Technology unveils Veloce 330, a remote-controlled drone capable of reaching speeds of 400 km per hour.

• The U.S. Navy and Lockeed Martin successfully completed the flight test of their long-range anti-ship missiles.

• Northrop Grumman announced that Italy, Japan and South Korea have signed a $387 million contract to maintain RQ-4 Global Hawk unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

• Boeing signed a $178 million contract with the US Air Force for an additional 7 MH-139A helicopters.

• Japan's Ministry of Defense announced that defense spending will be $57 billion by 2025.

• The U.S. Air Force signed a $13 billion contract with Sierra Nevada Corporation for the new "Doomsday Plane" project.

• DARPA reported that the Manta Ray prototype, an unmanned underwater vehicle developed by Northrop Grumman, underwent extensive testing in February and March of this year.

• France and Germany are set to establish a joint company to develop a new generation main battle tank(MBT) as part of the Main Ground Combat System (MGCS) program.

• Hyundai Rotem won Peru's 8×8 armored vehicle tender with the "K808 White Tiger" platform.
