Saudi Arabia and Malaysia agree to enhance defense cooperation between the two countries

Malaysia and Saudi Arabia agreed to strengthen defense relations between the two countries.

This came in the wake of a recent visit by Malaysian Defense Minister Hishammuddin Hussein to Riyadh, during which he met the Saudi Crown Prince and Defense Minister Prince Muhammad bin Salman.

Minister Hishammuddin said, in a statement published by the Malaysian news agency "Bernama", on Saturday, that through the fruitful discussions he held with his Saudi counterpart "they agreed to raise defense relations to higher levels."

He added that the discussions focused on three main areas, which are "military expertise, military medicine and military intelligence."

In this context, he indicated that a task force will be established between the general authorities for military industries in Saudi Arabia, the Defense Industries Department of the Ministry of Defense and the Malaysian Armed Forces Fund Board, to exchange knowledge and potential partnerships in the defense industry.
