Newest F-16 Fighting Falcon heads into final assembly

Lockheed Martin stated that the newest and most advanced Fighting Falcon completed major assembly in June, and is now in the final phase of systems installation before heading into the final assembly and checkout process.

The F-16 Block 70/72 is the newest and most advanced F-16 equipped with new capabilities based on the advanced F-16V configuration.

Block 70/72 combines capability upgrades, most notably the advanced Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar with a new avionics architecture, and structural upgrades to extend the structural life of the aircraft by more than 50 percent beyond that of previous production F-16 aircraft.

The company says that new production F-16s leverage structural and capability upgrades that ensure the international F-16 fleet can operate to 2060 and beyond.
