PT Pindad Chief Business Strategy Officer Dr. Syaifuddin talked to Defensehere.com after the “KAPLAN MT Medium Tank Platform Production Completion Ceremony” about the PT Pindad and FNSS partnership and future prospects.
Dr. Syaifuddin said, "I think this is a good cooperation between Indonesia and Turkey, Especially for Pindad and FNSS. For Medium Tank this is the first product of our Indonesia defenses."
When asked about the possibility of export of the Harimau (Kaplan MT) Medium Tank Platform to other countries Dr. Syaifuddin said, "Maybe in the next (future), this is a possibility. But this is the first time especially for Indonesia defense and for Indonesia also.
At the time maybe we try to strengthen ties between FNSS because this is a cooperation that took a very long time to develop and research about this product. We can strengthen the collaboration between Pindad and FNSS in the future.
I think this is a great achievement for a collaboration between us and FNSS, between Pindad and FNSS. Because as we complete to finish the production for our great product for Indonesian Defense."
Harimau (Kaplan MT) Project
HARIMAU (KAPLAN MT) Medium Tank Project was initiated with a G2G Agreement between Presidency of Defence Industries of Turkey (SSB) and Ministry of Defence of Indonesia.
Within the scope of this project Medium Weight Class Tank Serial Production Long-Term Collaboration Agreement was signed between FNSS and PT Pindad in 2019.
Following the “KAPLAN MT Medium Tank Platform Production Completion Ceremony” held on 15 March 2022, in FNSS facilities, all tank platforms is expected to be shipped to Indonesia for final turret assembly and delivered to Indonesian Army after the final acceptance stage.
