TCG Anadolu begins sea trials

Sea trials of Turkey's first Landing Helicopter Dock (LHD), TCG Anadolu, have begun.

TCG Anadolu will enter Turkish Navy service after verification and certification successfully ends.

TCG Anadolu is a multipurpose amphibious assault ship which is capable of operating aircraft such as helicopters, it can be configured as a STOVL aircraft carrier, and has a well deck for boats and amphibious vehicles.

Developed by Sedef Shipyard, work for the construction of TCG Anadolu started in 2014.

The first welding ceremony was held on April 30, 2016.

Expected to be commissioned within 2022, TCG Anadolu will be the flagship of the Turkish Naval Forces.

TCG Anadolu, built in line with the needs of the Turkish navy, will be able to hold 8 fully loaded helicopters.

The ship is being built with the ability to dispatch a battalion of fully equipped soldiers.

TCG Anadolu will be used with Bayraktar TB3 UCAVs currently being developed by Baykar Technologies.
