Türkiye and Saudi Arabia continue cooperation agreements

Turkish defense industry companies Baykar, ASELSAN and ROKETSAN signed an agreement and two memorandums of understanding with the Saudi Ministry of Defense.

Baykar signed memorandums of understanding with Saudi Arabian Military Industries (SAMI) for local production and technology transfer, and with NCMS company, which conducts studies to localize technology in the country in line with the capabilities of ASELSAN and Roketsan.

At the ceremony, which was also attended by the President of Defense Industries Haluk Görgün, senior state executives and company officials from Saudi Arabia, Baykar General Manager Haluk Bayraktar, ASELSAN General Manager Ahmet Akyol and Roketsan General Manager Murat İkinci signed the agreements.

The agreements and memorandums of understanding cover the production of Turkish defense industry products in Saudi Arabia.

AKINCI UCAV to be produced in Saudi Arabia

New agreements were signed following the largest defense and aerospace export contract in the history of the Republic of Türkiye, which Baykar and SAMI signed an agreement for the local production of unmanned combat aerial vehicle in Saudi Arabia.

Baykar recently exported $3.1 billion worth of AKINCI UCAVs to Saudi Arabia.

ASELSAN and NCMS will work together to strengthen the defense industry in Saudi Arabia

A memorandum of understanding was signed between ASELSAN and NCMS on electro-optical systems and guidance kits technologies. In line with the signed agreement, joint studies will be conducted including localization in the fields of electro-optical surveillance and targeting systems, guidance kits and guided munitions for use in UAVs and UCAVs exported by Baykar. This cooperation will support ASELSAN’s vision of export-oriented growth in defense technologies.

Finally, a memorandum of understanding was signed between ROKETSAN and NCMS on smart munitions and guidance kits technologies.
