TURKSAT inks first deal for its new satellite before launch

Turkey's communications satellite operator TURKSAT signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the U.K. based Inmarsat on Thursday.

With the agreement, Inmarsat GX services and infrastructure will be provided in Turkey via TURKSAT 5B satellite.

“Along with the earlier deal between companies which grants TURKSAT Tier 1 reseller in Turkey for Inmarsat global services, this new agreement will enhance and make Inmarsat GX services available in Turkey by using TURKSAT satellites and TURKSAT operated local gateway”, the Turkish company stated.

Giving all sorts of satellite communications services with its four active satellites, TURKSAT launched 5A satellite early this year and is planning to send 5B satellite into space by the end 2021.

The first deal for TURKSAT 5B satellite was concluded in the U.S. capital Washington during SATELLITE 2021 exhibition, the world’s largest satellite fair has been held since 1981 to bring together manufacturers and operators.

The Turkish operator attended the show to exhibit its services and capabilities including nationally produced SOTM (Satcom On The Move) antennas HidrON and TerrON, providing economical and uninterrupted service for mobile vehicles via satellite at sea and on land.
