SunExpress signs agreement with HAVELSAN for flight training simulator

SunExpress, the joint venture of Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa, has signed an agreement with HAVELSAN for the supply of the Boeing B737NG flight training device (FTD Level II).

The flight training device developed by HAVELSAN will provide SunExpress with a high quality and effective learning platform for pilot training.

FTD Level II, which is similar to a full flight simulator, will support SunExpress pilots to develop their competencies to the highest standard. The simulator is planned to be installed at SunExpress Headquarters in Antalya by the end of the year.

Max Kownatzki, Managing Director of SunExpress, said: "At SunExpress, we are taking firm steps towards growth and will double our fleet in the next ten years. Our investments in the training of our pilots are a strong foundation for our growth. We will continue to invest in developing our pilot training infrastructure with advanced technology solutions."

SunExpress ordered up to 90 Boeing 737-8 and 737-10s last year. The airline, which aims to double its fleet in the next ten years and reach 150 aircraft by 2033, plans to employ more than 1500 new pilots by 2033 for its growing fleet.

Mehmet Akif Nacar, General Manager of HAVELSAN, said: "With this agreement, we are signing another important success in the field of civil aviation and we believe that this success will continue to increase day by day. We are proud to be the solution partner of SunExpress and to contribute to the development and progress of pilot training with our state-of-the-art flight training device. The importance that SunExpress attaches to pilot training and qualified training is in line with our commitments and we are happy to play an important role in taking the training programs to higher levels."

This agreement is one of the important indicators of the trust airlines and flight training centers place in HAVELSAN to support their pilot training operations.

With all simulator deliveries to date, HAVELSAN is further strengthening its position as the leading provider of end-to-end narrow body simulator solutions.
