BAE Systems: “Great focus on autonomous systems and space by our customers”

In an interview with Defensehere.com, Michael Salkeld, Regional Director at BAE Systems, mentioned that in 2023 there was great focus on autonomous and space systems by their customers.

“We're seeing a lot more demand for autonomous systems as well, which of course we provide we supply, but those are the growth areas”, Salkeld said adding “I think one area that we as a company are moving into particularly is space. I think the acquisition of a space company, was a major step forward for BAE systems.”

Salkeld also explained that Thailand is one of our customers in the space field saying, “We actually signed an MoU with the Thai space agency to launch some of their technology on one of our satellites and that will be taking place next year.”

He also mentioned that most of BAE Systems’ customers focus largely on the maritime, surveillance, information processing, information gathering and C4I.

Salkeld also stressed that 2023 was a good year for BAE Systems with the partnership signed with Japan for the development of a future fighter jet saying, “It's a global partnership, so it's a major step forward for us to develop the next generation of aircraft.”
