Czech Republic bolsters air defense with a deal to acquire 24 F-35 Lightning IIs

In a deal facilitated through the US government, Czech Republic signed a Letter of Offer and Acceptance (LoA) to acquire 24 Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II aircraft.

The deal includes advanced Block 4 configuration jets, training, logistical support, and services to ensure the fighters’ integration. With this deal Czech Republic becomes the 18th nation in the F-35 program.

Czech Republic is expected to receive the first batch of F-35 jets in 2031. This marks a significant upgrade to the current J-39 Gripen fleet of the Czech Air Force.

Before Czech Republic, the most recent country to purchase the F-35 Lightening II fighter jets was Greece, after the approval of the U.S. State Department.
