Iran unveils 2 new air defense systems

Iran introduced the Arman anti-ballistic missile system and the Azerhesh low-altitude air defense systems.

According to Iranian state television, two newly produced air defense systems were exhibited at a ceremony attended by Defense Minister Mohammad Reza Ashtiyani.

It was reported that the Arman anti-ballistic missile system can simultaneously counter 12 targets at a distance of 120 to 180 kilometers and an altitude of 27 kilometers, while the Azerhes missile system can detect and destroy targets at low altitudes up to a distance of 50 kilometers with 4 ready-to-fire missiles.

In his speech at the ceremony, Defense Minister Ashtiyani said, "The Arman anti-ballistic missile system, which can be ready for operation in less than 3 minutes, provides reliable protection for the defense of the country's territory."

For the first time, Iran demonstrated a replica of the Arman air defense system at the International Military-Technical Forum ARMY-2023, which was held in Russia in August 2023.
