Thales and its Canadian transportation trailblazers inducted into North America railway hall of fame

Kevin Fitzgerald, Jean-Pierre Forestier, Walter Friesen, Mark Halinaty, Abe Kanner, John Mandelli, Jane Ng, and Thales Canada’s transportation business will be recognized at a ceremony in Toronto on November 3, celebrating their induction into the NARHF.

The ceremony included the unveiling of a painting by artist and Thales employee, Jane Hoople, to be on display at the NARHF in the Canada Southern Railway Station in St. Thomas, Ontario. This oil painting was created to recognize, preserve and honour Urban Rail heritage and the historical contribution made by Thales and key individuals.

“As pioneers in Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) for mass rail transit applications globally, we welcome the opportunity to not only celebrate Thales’ storied history and impact, but also to acknowledge the inductees for their career contributions to rail transportation in Canada, across North America, and around the world.” Alcino De Sousa, Vice-President and Managing Director, Urban Rail Signalling, Thales
