Turkish MKE to produce electric version of "Fırtına" self-propelled howitzer

Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Manager of Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation (MKE), Yasin Akdere, said today that the company is set to produce an electric version of Fırtına, the self-propelled howitzer.

Yasin Akdere, in an event organized by AA, said that they have undergone great changes in terms of institutional structure and turned into a joint stock company from a public institution in the past year. Akdere said, "We started to reap the fruits of this gradually. It will be even better, we will undertake even greater projects."

Emphasizing that the 76 millimeter Sea Cannon Project was a great source of pride for them, Akdere also said:

"In the first quarter of next year, we will be launching bigger projects under the leadership of our state elders, our President, and our Minister."

Our goal is to complete the electric version of Fırtına self-propelled howitzer in the first quarter [of 2022]. We continue to sign very big projects from the Ministry of National Defense and from the Presidency of Defense Industry."
