Türksat 6A, Türkiye's locally produced satellite, to be launched into space in the week of July 8

Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır said about Türkiye's locally produced satellite Türksat 6A, "Hopefully, we are preparing to send our satellite into space in the week of July 8. From this moment on, transportation activities will be carried out," he said.

Kacır made a press statement regarding the latest status of the Türksat 6A satellite at the Space Systems Integration and Test Center (USET), which was brought to the country with the cooperation of Türksat and Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAS).

Stating that Türkiye's 40-year-old dream in space technologies has come true, Kacır reminded that in 1984, the Prime Minister of the time, Turgut Özal, established TÜBİTAK UZAY at METU, while trying to preserve Türkiye's orbital rights in space.

Explaining that Özal aims to develop Türkiye's satellites with the Institute, Minister Kacır said, "Since the 2000s, Türkiye has gained a very important experience in satellite development studies. With the medium production project BİLSAT and RASAT in imaging satellites, then GÖKTÜRK and finally IMECE satellites, Türkiye has become one of the countries that can develop and produce high-resolution imaging satellites with its own means."

Emphasizing that Türksat has benefited from eight different satellites on the communication satellites side, Kacır said that they continue to use five of them currently.
