Keel laying ceremony of 3rd Milgem Class Corvette for Pakistan Navy held in Istanbul

Keel laying ceremony of the third MILGEM Class Corvette being constructed for the Pakistan Navy was held at Istanbul Naval Shipyard in Turkey.

Turkish and Pakistani military officials, ASFAT executives and officials from Pakistani embassy in Turkey attended the ceremony.

Chief Naval Overseer Pakistan Navy Commodore Ehsan Ahmed Khan speaking at the ceremony said the event is a defining moment to further cement the friendship between the two strategically aligned nations.

Thanking the Turkish Ministry of National Defense and ASFAT, Han emphasized that they are very pleased that the work has been proceeding according to schedule despite the epidemic and the difficult construction process.

The welding ceremony of the 3rd ship of the project was held on January 23, 2021 with the participation of the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

PN MILGEM Project

The project, which was signed on September 6, 2018, and started on March 11, 2019 (T0), includes the construction of a total of 4 frigates based on the ADA Class Corvette design for the Pakistan Navy.

Two of the ships will be built at the Istanbul Naval Shipyard and the other two at the Karachi Shipyard in Pakistan. The last ship is planned to be delivered to the Pakistan Navy in February 2025.
