The domestic T-129 ATAK helicopter executed its first test flight on August 17, 2011

Engineered by Turkish Aerospace engineers with domestic capabilities, the T-129 ATAK helicopter triumphantly accomplished its maiden test flight 12 years ago, precisely on August 17, 2011.

Designed to fulfill the attack helicopter needs of the Turkish Armed Forces, the T-129 ATAK Helicopter was realized through Türkiye's inherent capabilities.

In accordance with the contract inked with the Presidency of Defense Industries on September 7, 2007, Turkish Aerospace took on the pivotal role of Main Contractor, overseeing platform development, system integration, testing and validation, serial production, and lifecycle logistic support.

The helicopter's mission and weapon systems were meticulously devised to align with the operational requisites of the Turkish Armed Forces, harnessing national capabilities.

The T-129 ATAK's performance is adeptly optimized for arduous "hot and high-altitude" missions, standing as a proficient asset in Turkish Armed Forces' operations, exhibiting superior maneuverability and performance in both nocturnal and diurnal circumstances.

Following the inaugural flight of the T-129 ATAK Helicopter, the comprehensive testing and qualification procedures were successfully concluded, culminating in the maiden delivery to the Land Forces Command on April 22, 2014.

As of August 2022, a total of 73 ATAK helicopters have been dispatched to the Land Forces Command, the Ministry of Interior's Gendarmerie General Command, and the Ministry of Interior's General Directorate of Security.

The premiere international delivery of the T129 ATAK Attack and Tactical Reconnaissance Helicopter was extended to the Philippine Air Force.
